After rolling out the new feature access to Direct messagesing the web desktop last week, Facebook-owned platform is now also giving users the option to view Instagram Live stream can be viewed on the web or desktop. Now, this means you can not only text your friends but also see their live streams on the Instagram website.

The popular Live stream feature is now accessible via your web browser, and its layout is optimized for the platform as well. Instead of having comments scroll up from the bottom against a clear background, the web versions sets aside a white window on the side of the image, acting as a text box for comments. Much like the regular version, the web version also supports two-person streaming, although users won’t be able to initiate or partake in Live streams from their own computers just yet.

In your Stories section, Live videos are labelled as such — as you can see above, there’s a little magenta-colored rectangle that says “LIVE.”

As you can see in this image, shared by business Insider, when viewing Instagram Live streams on the web, you get a compressed view, in line with vertical, mobile presentation, but it also separates the comments and video, displaying them side-by-side. That means that while you’re not utilizing the full-screen, you are, arguably, getting a better viewing experience because your view is not being impeded by comments that scroll up on the video.

It’ll be interesting to see how many people do end up tuning in via desktop, and whether more users consider Instagram streaming as a result of the added option.
