Instagram Launches Anti-Bullying Features, Including Bulk Comment Actions and Mention Controls

Instagram has launched some anti-bullying feature to help people manage multiple unwanted interactions at once. In Instagram now you can delete multiple comments and block or restrict multiple people at once. You can also manage who tags or mentions you on Instagram.

As par Instagram Announcement:

 “We know it can feel overwhelming to manage a rush of negative comments, so we’ve been testing the ability to delete comments in bulk, as well as block or restrict multiple accounts that post negative comments. Early feedback has been encouraging, and we’ve found that it helps people, especially with larger followings, maintain a positive environment on their account.”

Instagram has spited during working on Pinning comment option back in March. They’ve seen positive results from those initial tests, leading to a broader roll-out. 

How to delete multiple negative comments/bulk block accounts:

  • Tap on any comment and then a dotted icon visible at the top right corner.
  • Select ‘Manage Comments’ and choose up to 25 comments to delete at once.
  • Tap ‘More Options’ to block or restrict accounts in bulk. ( you can see in picture listed below)

But there are not all comments are negative they also can be positive comments that you wan to pin on your comment section. That’s why, Instagram’s also working on a new option that will enable users to pin comments in their posts.

How to pin positive comments in instagram:

In addition with the positive comments users want to give people an encourage positive interactions. Soon, They’ll begin working on Pinned Comments. This feature gives people a way to set the tone for their account and engage with their community by pinning a select number of comments to the top of their comments thread.

Instagram hasn’t provided specific detail on how many comments you can pin on each post, but it’s currently being tested with some users.

Choosing who can tag and mention you:

Finally, Instagram’s also letting their users to a new controls over who can tag and @mention your account, in order to reduce misuse of this feature for bullying.

As you can see in screenshot, users will now be able to select whether they want everyone to be able to tag them, only the people they follow, or no one at all in comment, caption or Story. Users can also choose the ‘Manually Approve Tags‘ option to maintain more specific control over the process. Read out about more about Instagram comments.
